Sites built [entirely] by RBI Media are always the quickest due to minimal scripting, validated code, and the latest search engine specs. Green indicates my preferred and affordable West Coast hosting solution, red shows a sampling of servers in the Atlanta area. The sites in red are not performing to their potential with regard to speed. Is it really that big of a deal? In order to maximize organic search engine results and ROI, do everything possible to increase the performance and thus, visibility of your site. The more responsive a site, the more favorably it is viewed. Check the monthly stat reports here. Some time ago I wrote about a few practical mobile devices geared toward business. I originally selected the HTC Fuze from AT&T running Windows Mobile. This was my second HTC device and it performed very well for the first 12 months or so, but after living with the Fuze for less than two years, I couldn't take it anymore. No firmware, dropped calls, missed calls, freezes, reboots, etc. I went and checked-out all the latest smartphones from RIM, Samsung, etc., and chose the iPhone 4. Easier to type on and smaller than previous versions, beautiful screen, great browsing and a good price. I surprised myself picking the Apple product, (being a Windows-type) but it's versatile and hopefully will serve me well. The 30-day money back guarantee was a factor, but I'm pretty impressed so far. Inserting the phone into any protective case covers the questionable "death grip" area you've probably read about. I do prefer the desktop sync and file transfer with Windows Mobile - fewer/smaller processes running in the background, and they can be disabled to free-up memory when not syncing your device. Check out this great little program, it's free and it works great: ActiveSync Toggle. 09.03.10 August performance reports availableHost response time stays consistent over 30 days, downtime for West Coast servers takes a dip. Check your host's reliability and performance for the month of January by clicking here. 02.02.09 Adding dynamic content to increase interactivityIf your site needs some sprucing-up, consider adding an element of motion for interactivity, usability and fun. This can also help streamline navigation and page clutter issues. Case in point: A partner had a page that was growing in length. This wasn't archive-able information, all content needed to be displayed in one area. You could do a "click for next page" fix or an anchor-based page with dozens of links at the top of the page (you've seen them). We opted for an Ajax solution. All content is clearly visible, the page length was greatly reduced - plus, it's search engine-friendly. North American River Runners is another example. The gray box in the center of the page rotates photos, relevant text, and links to related pages while remaining search engine-friendly and easy to revise. A lot of dynamic content is pretty to look at, but does nothing for your search engine placement. By building an optimized site and inserting the right code in the right place, you can have your cake and eat it too. 01.16.09 Create a social network for your community
